EVENT
"Uncle Tom's Cabin" Lunch, Talk, and Museum Visit
Join us on Wednesday, May 8th for a special afternoon celebrating Uncle Tom’s Cabin. We’ll begin in the Pilgrim House chapel at noon for a brown bag lunch and talk by Susan Beegel on Uncle Tom’s Cabin as a “great revival sermon” mobilizing religion on behalf of the antislavery cause. After lunch. at 1:30 pm, we will convene in the pavilion at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art, where Sean Kramer, Andrew Mellon Curatorial Fellow, will meet us for a guided tour of the exhibit The Book of Two Hemispheres: “Uncle Tom’s Cabin” in the United States and Europe | Bowdoin College. All are welcome to join either the lunch and talk or the tour or both.
This event is sponsored by the Adult Christian Education Committee.
