As we enter the season of Advent and notice the changes in nature with the colder temperatures and reduced hours of sunlight, may I suggest a new book recommended by Rev. Allen and Dr. Hagness that has been added to our lending library in the parlor?  Speak to the Earth and It Will Answer You is written by Daniel Cooperrider, a UCC pastor and Rev. Allen’s friend. Cooperrider is a graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Divinity School.  According to his website, “Daniel writes at the intersections of theology, environmental ethics, poetry, aesthetics, and climate justice.”  

Rev. Allen recommended this book to Dr. Jane as she prepared and journeyed on her sabbatical last winter to explore several of our national parks in the western U.S.  She wholeheartedly recommended it. We hope that you will take advantage of our church’s lending library in Pilgrim House to explore ideas and inspiration around our faith practices and spirituality.
